It doesn’t get much better than sipping on wine, strolling through a botanical garden, and socializing with your friends in the springtime. The annual Moore Farms Wine Stroll on April 14th was a great success with beautiful weather and record attendance of over 475 guests. It wasn’t all about the wine though—ticket proceeds were donated to the Lake City Junior Sorosis Club. MFBG donated over $13,000 to this organization who then distributes that money to local charities making a difference right here in our community.
The event this year included 18 wineries offering around 60 different wines for sampling. Soulution provided live music and guests munched on food from local restaurants Baker’s Sweets, Crossroads on Main, and The Railway. The Winery Mercer House, City Scape Winery, Sallie’s Greatest, and Hyman Vineyards all proudly represented South Carolina wines. There were also wineries from across the world to offer a wide variety of wines to taste.
VIP ticket holders participated in an exclusive session with sommelier Jean-Pierre Chambas to delve deeper into the world of wine making and proper tasting techniques. VIP’s then proceeded to the garden where they got to continue sampling wine and enjoy the botanical garden backdrop. All guests received a commemorative wine glass to use throughout the day and take home. Each winery offered samples of the wine they brought and representatives offered insight into the specific creation of each wine.
President of the Junior Sorosis Club Caroline Keller said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better day. With the breeze rolling off the ponds, it was the perfect atmosphere for people to enjoy a wine tasting.”
The Lake City Junior Sororis Club is grateful to all those who attended and made the donation possible.
“We are just so pleased,” said Cheryl Floyd, JSC club member. “For this event to have grown so much and for us to be able to have that money to reinvest in the community is amazing!”
