Southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) is one of the most magnificent temperate trees in the world. Its regal form, large fragrant flowers, and lustrous evergreen foliage make this a true monarch among plants. Although native to the southeastern United States, southern magnolia now enjoys a cosmopolitan distribution in gardens and landscapes around the world. Not surprisingly, many distinct cultivars have been selected, though only a few are widely cultivated. Our goal in establishing this collection is to preserve and display the wonderful diversity found within this iconic species. Our collection currently has over 50 different cultivars and we are looking to expand it each year.
