Firetower Center

This painting was created during Artfields 2014 when Conrardy’s painting group, About Face, traveled to Moore Farms for Plein Air day. Conrardy had visited the property before and thought the building would be an interesting subject, and chose to paint it in afternoon light, despite beginning the painting in the early hours of the day. The painting was completed in the basement of the Columbia Museum of Art during an About Face session. Mark Conrardy has always found a lot of creative energy in Lake City and has painted many more iconic scenes since, including the Bean Market, Jones-Carter Gallery, Theatre Park, and Joe’s Barbershop.
