Transformations originally saw its inception as an ever-changing set for a dance collaboration between choreographer Sarah M. Barry, Associate Professor of Dance at the University of Alabama, Dr. Trig Johnson, composer and Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Alabama, and sculptor Craig R. Wedderspoon, Professor of Sculpture at the University of Alabama. The original collaborative piece saw its debut during the Spring 2019 Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre performance that ran from February 26- March 2, 2019 in Morgan Auditorium on the campus of the University of Alabama. Craig R. Wedderspoon, Professor of Sculpture at the University of Alabama, began his work in the tangible manipulation and composition of space and three-dimensional thought in 1985 in Miami, Florida where he was trained as a glass and crystal carver. As as culptor, Craig specializes in metal and wood fabrication, and works in a variety of scales for both indoor and outdoor, permanent, and temporary installations and exhibitions. Along with multiple solo and group exhibitions, Craig has completed many permanent outdoor commissions for sculpture throughout the United States.
