Instructor Sharleen Johnson will introduce gardening with native plants to support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. Topics addressed will include identifying the growing conditions in your yard, selecting native plants suited to those growing conditions and your gardening goals, and how to maintain native plant gardens and yards to support wildlife. Participants will be provided with a handout with native gardening resources and are invited to bring lunch to eat while socializing with fellow gardeners.
In the afternoon, Sharleen will dive in and provide more detailed information about pollinator subgroups, featuring colorful photos of diverse South Carolina pollinators, life history tidbits, specific native plant recommendations, and guidance about how to maintain your garden beds and yard to help support the delightful diversity of pollinators that call our region home!
