Standing over 100 feet tall and visible from nearly every part of the garden, the fire tower is not only the most conspicuous structure on the property, but also an important gateway; all visitors pass underneath to enter and exit the garden. Now firmly in retirement, the fire tower no longer safeguards against wildfires, but instead stands as a symbol of the land management heritage of the Pee Dee region. The singular red top and hanging baskets offer further evidence of its new role. This garden icon was moved to its current site in 2004.
